However, it’s important to note that the Lowcountry encompasses much more than just this island, including the historic downtown of Charleston, as well as the nearby beaches of Folly Beach and Sullivan’s Island.

Navigating to Isle of Palms, SC

Situated east of Charleston and just off Mount Pleasant, SC, Isle of Palms can be accessed via two main routes if you’re coming from the Charleston area.

Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge

Our recommended option is to take the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge from Charleston to Mount Pleasant. This scenic route offers breathtaking views of the harbor, where you may spot cargo ships, cruise ships, and the USS Yorktown, as well as the picturesque Shem Creek.

From North Charleston

Alternatively, you can take 526 to Mount Pleasant from North Charleston. Depending on traffic conditions, either route will get you to the island in roughly the same amount of time from I-26.
